Costa Teguise -
The third largest resort on the island of Lanzarote, Costa Teguise is situated about 9 kilometres northwest of the capital Arrecife and its airport. A mostly new, built for tourism resort, Costa Teguise is a growing town with a resident population of around 3 - 4,000, a figure which rises considerably during the high season.
Costa Teguise mostly developed after 1977 when a new hotel was opened there, designed by Lanzarote's most famous son César Manrique (who was born in the area), the resort is predominantly low-rise (as is the norm on Lanzarote) and also boasts a marina and an 18-hole golf course (Golf Costa Teguise). Costa Teguise is a popular resort for water sports enthusiasts and has a good range of facilities for sports such as diving, windsurfing, sailing and deep-sea fishing. Also nearby is the popular Aquapark with plenty of water-based amusement, here you will find exciting rides and slides, swimming pools, restaurants and shops, the park is located in Avenida Teguise 315 near to the golf course and is open from 10.00am to 6pm every day.
Costa Teguise boasts a vibrant nightlife with numerous bars, restaurants, night-clubs and discos, though serious 'clubbers' may prefer to head for the more lively Puerto del Carmen to the south.
Shoppers will find a decent range of shops in Costa Teguise but for some serious retail therapy will probably head for Teguise itself or even better - the capital Arrecife.
Beach lovers will not be disappointed in Costa Teguise as there are plenty to enjoy and all are sandy, clean and safe
Finding accommodation in Costa Teguise should not be a problem as there are a good selection of hotels and apart-hotels in the resort offering varying standards of accommodation, many of the major tour operators offer package deals to the resort and there is plenty of choice available.
Costa Teguise is easily reached by road from the airport at Arrecife.
